Our Library
Our library at Terramar Academy of the Arts has over 11,000 titles and over 14,000 books available to students. These books range from Everyone picture books up to Young Adult (for 7th-8th grades). The library also hosts the monthly Titan Store, Battle of the Books (5th and 6th grades) and Volunteer Trainings.
Students and parents can access the Terramar collection from home by visiting Destiny. Be sure to select Terramar Elementary School.
Circulation
Children from Kindergarten through the 8th grade may check out books as follows:
- Kindergarten - 1 book for 1 week
- 1st Grade - 1 book for 1 week
- 2nd Grade - 2 books for 2 weeks
- 3rd - 8th Grades - 2 books for 2 weeks
It is suggested to students that books be kept in backpacks when not being read. This will allow students to have their books when it’s their day to visit the LMC and to protect them from harm. Please be mindful of water bottles placed in backpacks. This can quickly ruin books! Always use the outside holders.
The book collection at Terramar School’s Library Media Center (LMC) contains a large variety of titles to accommodate individual student needs. Some of these books are labeled Young Adult (YA) due to their mature content.
Terramar School’s circulation rules flag Young Adult titles during check out for students below 7th and 8th grade. If your child is below 7th or 8th grade, they will not be able to check out any Young Adult (YA) books without your written permission. The permission form below will be kept on file in the LMC for the duration of the school year.
Please complete and return the permission form for each Young Adult title your student has your permission to check out. You may go to Destiny and search all titles available for check out in the Terramar LMC.

24-25 Battle of the Books!
DVEF BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The Deer Valley Education Foundation (DVEF) will sponsor the 2024-25 Battle of the Books for Deer Valley School District students. The reading incentive program is open to students in fifth and sixth grades. Students read books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read. The competitions are a lively academic competition. Battle of the Books improves reading comprehension, builds vocabulary, and teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Fifth and sixth grade students will be teamed in groups of three (with a maximum of 20 teams per school) to compete and test their knowledge in two exciting school competitions during the 2024-2025 school year. There will be three rounds held in October 2024, January/February 2025 and March/April 2025. Each round has 4 books for students to read and teams earn points based on correctly answering questions about each round's books.
